Team Overview

Family1st’s care model is strengthened by a multidisciplinary team with experience in social work, social service work, child and youth care principles, behavioral support, mental health, and holistic wellness. Leadership is provided by our Director of Residential Services, bringing experience in child welfare, family-centered practice, CBT-informed approaches, and group psychoeducation programs.

Our on-call Naturopathic Doctor provides supportive wellness care for youth, including personalized health routines, support in building healthy eating habits, lifestyle guidance, and regular wellbeing check-ins.

This collaborative approach ensures consistent, relationship-centered care throughout the home.

Programs & Services

Family1st offers programs that support emotional stability, daily structure, physical wellness, and the development of independence.

School & Day Program Support

Morning preparation and routines, attendance encouragement, organizational skills, supportive communication with schools when appropriate, and after-school structure.

Life Skills & Independence

Cooking, cleaning, laundry, budgeting, time management, organization, community navigation, and daily responsibility-building.

Emotional & Behavioural Support

Support in emotional regulation, conflict management, healthy communication, problem-solving, and positive decision-making.

Crisis Support

Calm, supportive crisis response including de-escalation, supervision, quiet spaces, sensory tools, and individualized crisis planning.

Naturopathic Youth Wellness

Individualized wellness support from a licensed Naturopathic Doctor, including personalized routines, healthy eating habits, lifestyle guidance, sleep planning, hydration support, sick-day monitoring, and regular wellbeing check-ins.

Youth Mentor Program

Weekly mentorship with a focus on accountability, emotional insight, pro-social behaviour, practical guidance, recreation, and confidence-building.

Community Integration

Outings, volunteer opportunities, seasonal events, and participation in community activities that build connection and independence.

Recreation & Activities

Fitness, arts, crafts, music, hobbies, sports, nature outings, parks, museums, and other structured recreational experiences.

Youth Justice Support

Family1st supports male youth ages 12–17 involved in the justice system by providing structure, guidance, and stability during key transition periods. Our focus is on emotional regulation, safer decision-making, and building consistent daily routines.
